At the beginning of the year the instructor assess the students prior knowledge by completing with the student an online assessment literacy test. The literacy test assesses a students reading fluency, comprehension, phonemic awareness and grammar. After each student has completed the assessment test, the overall mark from the test will determine the composition of each literacy group. The groups will be pre-determined by the teaching using the assessment literacy test to balance the academic abilities of each group. The class will be divided into four literacy groups.
